Ganso's is dedicated to preparing gluten-free meals. Here, our favorite ingredient is white corn, which we use to prepare empanadas and arepas filled with delicious fillings, always made with the utmost care and love. We also have warm soups, cakes and other treats, quality coffee, natural juices and other drinks (We have regional poncha from Madeira!).
The name "empanada" comes from the Spanish word "empanar" and its possible origin comes from the custom of stuffing bread with meats or vegetables, which shepherds and travelers used to consume in the countryside. Over time, the bread dough began to be cooked together with its filling, giving rise to dishes such as Italian calzones or Galician empanadas.
Ganso's empanadas (Venezuelan style) will therefore be the result of a legacy left by the Spanish conquistadors in Latin America, but with our own touch! 🙂
The idea of opening a food truck with gluten-free meals came about when Zé and Fátima (the faces shown below) were advised by a naturopath to stop consuming gluten. Their lives have changed since then... for the better! But there was still a downside... When having to eat out, both daily and at festivals and other events, it proved difficult to find gluten-free meals, especially snacks and fast food. By luck or fate, Fátima tried Venezuelan empanadas for Zé, who was immediately enchanted. Eureka! "It will be an empanada food truck!"
Our fillings are inspired by Madeiran and Venezuelan cuisine, and the multiculturalism of modern cuisine.
